Lummie Spann

Lummie is a native of Hartford, Connecticut, and has lived in New York since 2012. He holds a BM in African American music studies from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford and an MM in music performance from the State University of New York at Purchase. Lummie is a former professor of jazz studies at the University of Hartford, where he was the recipient of the Jackie McLean Fellowship. For the past ten years, he founded and directed middle and high school instrumental music programs in Brooklyn charter schools for KIPP NYC Public Schools and Uncommon Schools. Lummie is a saxophonist who has performed with many notable artists and musicians nationally and abroad with engagements in New York, Japan, Paris, London, Germany, and Canada.
